As part of its relocation to modern office facilities, Brussels-based global consulting services provider ICF wanted to install purpose-built post production suites to replace the ad hoc arrangement that had previously been used.

Amongst a wide range of services, the company creates branded marketing content, including for public policy as well as for corporate clients. The addition of dedicated post production suites was central to plans to develop and grow this arm of the business.

Working alongside studio acoustics specialist Audio Schemes for construction of the suites themselves, ES Broadcast provided system design and installation, technical furniture design and project management services, as well as coordinating with ICF’s network services and building services providers to commission new network connectivity to the ICF core network, and to ensure that all power and air conditioning requirements were fulfilled. The facility build consisted of three new edit suites and an audio suite with voiceover booth, all of which are soundproofed, as well as a modern server room.

HIGH-SPEED NETWORK CONNECTIVITY FACILITATES COLLABORATIVE WORKING

Central to the way the solution was designed is a 10Gb high-speed edit network, which ES Broadcast installed in all of the new post production suites as well as the main office space to allow other users to work in non-dedicated workspaces. This super-fast connectivity enables easy sharing of assets between users and workstations, encouraging fast-paced collaboration on time-sensitive creative projects, and allows client-facing staff to easily provide customers with progress updates.

POST PRODUCTION SUITES ADD PROFESSIONALISM BY DESIGN

What was ostensibly a straightforward project from a technical perspective nevertheless called for attention to detail in aesthetic elements such as desk design: one of the central reasons for building the new suites was to provide ICF’s creative team with facilities that were suitable for client interaction such as collaborative progress reviews and sitting in on edits. This brought the benefit of projecting a highly professional public face to clients – as well as giving operators a much-improved, spacious working environment – as opposed to ICF’s previous workspace which consisted of cramped desks with piles of books sometimes being used as risers for monitors.

Similarly, the dedicated sound studio ensured that voiceovers and dubbing, for example into multiple languages, could be carried out in a highly polished way, with discernible benefits for ICF’s creative output.
